Nick and I met at First Baptist Church Counce in Counce, TN just outside of Nick's hometown of Michie, TN, when I went to visit a friend from college at her family's home. We didn't talk at first because I thought he was a lot younger than me. Little did I know, he was actually older than me and all of the sudden I decided to give him a chance haha. He came to his friend's church service who just so happened to be the boyfriend of my friend's sister. If you didn't catch all of that, he met up with my friends and we all sat together! After church, I got talked into getting Mexican food (which is a hometown staple in Pickwick, every Sunday after church) and going on the boat with all of our friends afterwards. This allowed us to talk the entire day and realize that we wanted to continue talking after we left.
We started off long distance- I went to Ole Miss(Hotty Toddy!) and Nick went to Tennessee (Go Vols!, but Hotty Toddy ;) ) We traveled back and forth switching every other weekend for who had to travel the 6 1/2 hour drive each way. Looking back, it was a little crazy, but we were head over heels for each other. Eventually I graduated and moved to Knoxville to be closer to Nick while he finished his last semester. It wasn't just me moving to Knoxville... I brought along our new golden retriever puppy, River, too!
Three months after moving to Knoxville, Covid hit and Nick had to do online classes, so we decided to float between our parent's houses before moving back to Knoxville until November when Nick got a new job in Fernandina Beach, FL. It was so special living by the beach again and getting to work right next door to where my dad practiced law at the beginning of his career. In 2022, we moved to Gastonia, NC (just outside of Charlotte), where we are now!
If you know Nick, you know that he is one of the best people in the world. He is not afraid to help anyone who needs it and he is the kindest, most generous person I've ever met. He would do anything for a friend and is a true servant of God. He could also talk to a wall, which reminds me a bit of my Dad! If you've ever been to a wedding with Nick, you'd know that he is one of the first ones on the dance floor and with a couple of drinks in him you will see him in the middle of a circle playing his air guitar(although, you could probably convince him to do it sober too) haha. Life is definitely more entertaining and so much sweeter just by knowing him. I can't wait for you to share this with us. Thank you so much for being a part of our special day!
